Loy Krathong is an traditional Thai festival celebrated on the full moon night of the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar (which usually falls in November). It is when people gather to release beautiful lotus-shaped rafts, decorated with candles, incense and flowers onto the water to pay respect to the Goddess of Water. Therefore, Loy Krathong is also considered as an occasion for joy, gratitude, and new beginnings.
